Vidéo Recorder : Save As

Hi everyone,

I’m testing Videosync (trial) on Windows 10 with Ableton Live 12 Suite and Max for Live.
I set up the Video Recorder on the master track. I can see my video in the preview window, and the “Save As” button is blinking as instructed.

The problem happens when I click “Save As”:

  • A Windows file dialog opens in the right folder.

  • The proposed file type is strange — .txt, .html, .xml, etc., instead of a video format like .mov or .mp4.

  • No matter what file name I type, the “Save As” button keeps blinking, as if it doesn’t recognize a valid file name. Save as continues blinking.

I already installed VIDDLL, and the Video Simpler works fine, so the video engine itself seems to be functional.

Has anyone encountered this issue? Is there a way to force a proper video file name so that the recorder will start capturing, or is this something I didn’t understand, or a limitation of the trial version?

Thanks for any advice!

Hi there and welcome to the forum!

That’s strange! However, after clicking Save As…, the only thing you will need to do is select a destination folder, enter a file name, and click Save. You don’t have to select or choose a file extension (like .mov or .mp4), this is done automatically by the Video Recorder device. After this, the Record toggle should become red (or yellow, depending on the chosen Recording Mode). Is this the case for you? Or does it remain grey after pressing Save?

Thanks for your quick reply.
I click on Save As, and the Windows dialog appears exactly like this (I find the list of file types a bit strange here).

I enter a file name and click Save.
Unfortunately, the indicator stays grey. When I start playback, it switches from Arm to Record, but it remains grey. And the Save As button keeps blinking…

That’s all I can say for now.

The file types in the Save dialog may indeed seem a bit strange, but since the window is created by Max, we have no control over that.

If you click the (…) button in the top right of the device, and select “Open Max Window”, could you please make a screenshot of the window that opens, and share it here?

Sure :

Do any messages appear in that window after you’ve clicked Save?

Nothing else :frowning:

I don’t have a dedicated graphics card — I’m using the processor’s integrated GPU.
Could that be the cause of this issue?

For any other readers: After a Zoom call we were able to determine that it seemed to have something to do with the selected drive the file was saved on, it being any drive other than the C:/ drive. When saving the file on the C:/ drive, Video Recorder behaves as expected. I have logged this issue and we will further investigate this.

This issue is resolved with Videosync 2.1.1, which is now available!
