Using L8 to visualise

I’ve recently discovered the lighting visualiser ‘L8’

It looks very cool, has more features than Capture and is more affordable.

However it runs on Windows only. I am Apple based, Right now Ableton and B4L are running on my mac studio. I would create a windows partition on my Macbook Pro and run L8 there.

How would I get the lighting system signal data from B4L on my mac studio to L8 running on the macbook pro?

Thanks

Hey! Thanks for sharing this - this is the first time I come across it so I don’t have experience using the software myself.

It looks like L8 can receive DMX input through ArtNet. From Beam’s side, you would create an ‘ArtNet Output’ with the IP address of your MacBook Pro. Checking Output All is an easy way to ensure all Beam’s universes are sent over.

If that doesn’t work out-of-the-box, network configuration is a common source of problems. It could be that a firewall is blocking incoming data. Or the ArtNet data is accidentally sent over WiFi while your computers are connected via a network cable. But this all highly depends on your specific setup.

Let us know how it goes!

Thanks. I’m looking forward to giving this a go!
