Hello, it would be great if you could implement an additional mapping on isf shader so that you can change programs and also edit it in the ableton tracks. For example a scrolling system with (mappable) up and down arrows. This would be an important evolution for creativity!
Best regards
Hi Niels, nice to hear from you. As much as we appreciate the suggestion, I don’t think this is something we will want to implement. I’ll try to explain why:
- The ISF Shader device comes with many shaders that are easily browsable already by either using the cursor, or by using the up/down arrow keys to scroll through the list, instantly switching between different shaders.
- Switching between shaders resets the functionality of every Parameter Control (dial), so automating those will quickly become very messy if their automation depends on very specific shaders.
- Whenever we add more shaders to the Factory folder, the list of shaders itself becomes different/longer, so if you’d have automated the “scrolling system”, your previously programmed automation may not give the same results as before. In other words, this could easily end up breaking people’s Live Sets, and we want to prevent this at all costs.
Instead, I suggest working with Racks, as Videosync fully supports the use of Racks. Place ISF Shader devices on separate chains within a Rack, and then (for example) automate the Chain Volume or Mute parameters to determine which chain should be visible. Whenever the output of a Videosync device is not visible in the Main Out window, it will not impact the FPS, so you’re free to add as many ISF Shader devices on separate chains as you like.
Let me know if this would work for you
