Instrument Envelope Release Slope?

Hi there! Is there a trick or other method people have found to modify the slope of the release parameter within the Beam instrument envelope?

I’m using it to control the “dim” property to get a very nice, smooth fade-out after note release.

I’ve tried mimicing it by setting both envelopes to “dim”, and then messing with the release value and the envelope gain to try to smooth out the linear drop-off, but it’s finicky at best, and still not super smooth.

I know I can just add an automation lane for this, but I’m really trying to keep things pretty self-contained in instrument racks if possible.

Thanks!

I experimented quite a bit with the Beam Scale effect, and assigning it to the same param as the one assigned to the attack/release envelope is getting me closer to getting the ease-in/ease-out slopes I’m looking for.

It’s at least smoother than trying to guess the proper values for assigning dual envelopes.

I still wish there were options like this on the envelopes. Maybe a feature request for later?

Thanks for the feedback! ADSR envelopes with curves are also quite high on our feature “wishlist”!

In the meanwhile, another workaround (albeit with some limitations) could be to use the Envelope MIDI or Shaper MIDI devices to generate note-triggered envelopes, mapped to Beam device parameters:

Ahh, that’s super helpful, and could def give the flexibility I’m looking for with regards to getting long fades to look good on my (admittedly very inexpensive) lights.

Thanks for the tip!
