Controlling beam width and more features of moving heads

Hello! I’m trying to control Zoom or beam width of moving heads in Beam for Live. I can’t see this control on the instrument. is it possible? Also to change gobos and rotate gobos etc? Thanks.

What fixture profile are you using?

The fixture profile has to have a range patched to a control number to achieve that.

  1. Dimmer 0-255
  2. Pan 0-255
  3. Tilt 0-255
  4. ?
  5. ?
  6. ?
    etc…etc…

If no control number in your fixture profile is associated with the Zoom feature. And it’s a feature your fixture has. You’ll need to edit the profile so that you can add that feature and control number. Or…create/ask to have a new one created. :man_shrugging:

Hi,

I have the correct fixture seleted in the Beam for Live App

Its the Vari-Lite VL3000 spot

The specs online show it has Gobos

Vari-Lite VL3000 Spot - Olden Lighting.

I have accessed Iris and zoom controls using the generic fixture instrument. However Gobo is not an available option in the drop down menus. Am I missing something? Is there a VL3000 instrument for Ableton available ?

Thanks, I am new to this!

Hey @Hungry_Man,

The factory fixture profile for Vari-Lite VL3000 Spot doesn’t seem to have modulations mapped to all the available channels. Here is a fixture profile that adjusts that:
Vari-Lite VL3000 Spot.sbf (5.1 KB)

Place it into Documents/Beam/Fixture Profiles/User and restart Beam. You should now be able to select more modulations for this fixture in Beam devices.

You can open and edit modulations of any Beam fixture profile by importing it to the (experimental) web fixture editor: https://support.showsync.com/fixture-editor

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions!
