Colorizer/Color Swap Hue Midi Mapping

Hello! Really enjoying the product!

Having an issue mapping the Hue parameter in both the Colorizer and Color Swap. Instead of sweeping the range, it is snapping to min or max. I tried different methods to see if i can get it to sweep: grouping the device and midi mapping the Hue to a macro and midi mapping my controller directly to the Hue control. Both were unsuccessful.

Is this a known issue?

Thanks!

Hi not-James, welcome to the forum!

This is actually a bug in Live, and we’ve reported it to Ableton. Unfortunately, we can’t say when it will be fixed.

The issue only affects parameters that use the Absolute Clip Modulation Mode. When a float parameter of this type is mapped to a Rack Macro and you apply clip modulation to that Macro, the float value is converted to an integer.

The Hue parameter is a float with a range of 0.00 to 1.00 and uses the Absolute mode. When it’s mapped to a Macro, its value gets rounded to either 0 or 1, which effectively turns it into an on/off switch.

As a workaround, you can apply clip modulation directly to the Hue parameter instead of going through a Macro. In that case, it keeps its full float range.
However, I understand that you’re trying to map a MIDI controller to it. Are you saying that if you map a dial/fader on your controller to the Hue parameter directly, it behaves the same as if you would map the parameter to a Macro? This is something I personally hadn’t tested yet.
