Deep in the guts of programming a big show I have lined up this Friday. Very impressed with Beam thus far.
I’m using clip envelopes pretty significantly (I believe this is what they’re called–it’s the “Envelopes” tab when you double-click on a MIDI clip, right next to “Notes”.)
When looking for the things to modulate, I only see “Intensity”, “Red”, “Green”, “Blue”, and then HSL, and then 16 parameters.
I’d love to see the Generic device envelope attack/release options here, as I often want to change the envelope release on a per-clip basis.
Any chance of that making it in there on the next release?
Hm, I see those parameters in my envelope dropdown so as far as I know, these parameters are already available. Are there any errors in the Max Window that can indicate what’s going wrong on your system?
Looking at the Max window, I do see errors from another Max device I’m using on another track. However, I’m not using those devices on this track at all.
Wow! That’s strange indeed! Are the parameters also missing if you drop the Generic instrument in an otherwise completely empty Live Set? Maybe some other Max for Live device is interfering?
Hey there! I took a look in the Max patches, and noticed that for some reason the Clip Modulation Mode for these parameters was set to None for the Generic device. This is now fixed and will be shipped with the next update.
Just so you don’t have to wait for it, here is a frozen amxd of Generic with the fix: Generic.amxd (711.4 KB)
Feel free to replace the Generic.amxd file in User Library/Beam/2.0 Devices/Instruments with the file above.
Ooh, wonderful, thank you! I’ll have a go with this shortly.
(EDIT: Confirmed this fixes it! The only param I don’t see in there is the “< Velocity” switch, but I don’t use that. Just mentioning it for completeness. The rest are there though .)
I noticed today there also seems to be some missing params in the LFO effect too (min/max, sync rate, etc). Perhaps a similar issue?
I took a quick look but I believe everything is set correctly for the LFO: all of the relevant parameters are modulate-able. Toggles or stepped parameters (like the Sync one) can’t be modulated, and the Min/Max parameters the determine the range of the Depth, so it makes sense to only automate them and not modulate them, while still being able to modulate the amount of Depth within that defined range.
