I love the idea of Beam and I am so excited to get it working. Here’s where I am so far: I can use the beam fixture and patch editor, and can launch the various beam instruments in Live, however after selecting the correct tag, I’m not able to control the fixture at all.
Im using the ENTTEC DMX USB pro, and have the EMU software and the D2XX firmware. After loading the correct patch and address Im able to control the light via EMU but no response via Ableton/beam. I’m honestly not sure where the problem lies so I’m hoping to hear if this has come up for anyone else, and if there’s anything I can do about it.
Let me know what other pieces of information I can add to clarify my problem.
I have that same setup and it works ok for me currently. welcome!!!
-If you go to your set- below the fixture editor- settings-interface- and select enttec dmx pro.
you also need to Set a Tag name for each fixture.
-then in abelton you have to drag an instrument (i usually use generic instrument for most applications)
-and select the tag name (that you made) on the instrument rack. this will connect all of the peices together. you then would turn the knobs and find light combinations. some lights need the shutter set wide open and some lights need the dim opened a littile. its hard to explain at first but will become easier. and this company is flat amazing with customer support so dont get discouraged. im fully confidet they will help you get up and running. Does the Enttec DMX USB Pro interface appear as an Output option in Beam’s Preferences and are you able to select it?
Also, please make sure no other lighting software (such as EMU) that could be claiming the interface is running.
The light fixtures I’m using is an ADJ Vizi LED Spot and a LED PAR 6 x 18W (6in1 LED).
What brand is LED PAR 6 x 18W (6in1 LED)? If you can share a link to the manual or photo of the DMX chart, I can also share a fixture profile for that.
This has mostly resolved my problem! Now I’m just looking into fine tuning the patch I created.
