Beam 2 connected but Beam instruments say disconnected

I’m seeing an issue on starting Beam and Live where Beam shows connected but Beam plugins show disconnected. Restarting Live allows it to connect to Beam properly, but shortly after this happens, Live will crash.

I can send you a Live crash report if it’s helpful.

MacOS 15.3.2
Live 12.1.10
Beam 2
Running on wi-fi network, but all resources are on one laptop

Live set is pretty basic, but I’m using one M4L patch called ‘Automate Rack Variations’, found here: How to Automate Macro Variations in Ableton Live – ABLETON DRUMMER
(this might have nothing to do with anything but I’m mentioning it just in case)

I’ve got a separate issue where Capture 2024 is mostly not seeing CITP connections from Beam, and I have to configure Art-Net to 127.0.0.1 (even that is a bit flaky). Every now and then CITP works fine. That’s a separate topic, but I’m mentioning it in case it’s related.

I’ve got a show in a couple of weeks, and Live crashing with Beam is making me a bit nervous!

I’ve also now got an issue where Live and Beam are talking, I see tags in Beam instruments and the lights respond normally, but a Beam LFO shows ‘disconnected’.

Hi @tdk,

Have you built your Live Set recently using Beam 2 devices, or does it possibly contain any Beam 1.x devices?
Could you try to reproduce this by quitting all the applications (Beam, Live, Capture), disconnecting from Wi-Fi and trying it all again while disconnected from any networks?

A crash report to support@showsync.com would be great - thanks!

Hey Luka. I e-mailed all my diagnostic info to firstcontact@showsync.com – hopefully you’ve got that now.

No beam 1.x plugins, and the crash repros with a brand new set. I think I’ve traced it down to the fixture profile. More details in my email.
