Beam 2.0 not loading

Hi folks!

Every time I try loading Beam 2.0 on MacOS Sequoia 15.6, it just hangs and never loads. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the programme and it does the same thing. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi there and welcome to the forum!

Sorry to hear about that! After launching Beam, does the application window appear at all? What is it exactly that you see?

Aside from the above, would you be able to create a spindump? A spindump is a report that captures what an application is doing at a specific moment. This can possibly help us to see which process is causing the freezing.

Here are the steps to record a Spindump:

  1. Open Activity Monitor. Find and open Activity Monitor located in /Applications/Utilities/.
  2. Launch Beam and find it in the application list. I recommend using the Search. Ideally Beam is unresponsive/frozen at this point.
  3. Capture Spindump. Select Beam, click on the three dots in a circle icon at the top of the window, and choose “Spindump” from the menu.
  4. Wait for Completion. Allow the spindump to run until it finishes. This could take a few minutes.
  5. Save the Report. When the spindump is complete, a report will appear. Go to the File menu, select “Save…”, and save the report to a convenient location.
  6. Send the Report. Once saved, please send the file to us (either over email or DM).

Thank you Jean-Paul, I’ve just sent an email.

The same thing is happening to me. The ‘Application is not responding” no matter what I do. I deleted the app and downloaded it again. I updated my macbook, I cleared storage. I’m not too sure what else to do.

Hey Joshua! Welcome to the forum!

I actually got a reply back today from the OP mentioning that the issue has been resolved. In the meantime we’ve added an article to our support website addressing this specific issue.

Long story short, if the Beam application does not start or appears frozen at startup, this may be caused by cloud services (like iCloud) interfering with fixture profiles stored in the Documents folder.
