I feel like people these days see the laptop lid as a bit of a barrier onstage, and Ableton are trying to move away from it so they aren’t shunned by the modular crowd with all their spaghetti and flashing lights.
I wonder if Ableton would ever bring out an external device that could load a/v files for standalone manipulation via tools like Videosync? How amazing it would be to use something like Push with pre-loaded video in a live situation. It would be like those old hybrid DVDJ units were meant to work but didn’t. Better, in fact.
I’m thinking a lot of people would use it, but the dev. would probably be costly.
